Week 2 - Gestural Expression
In effort to destroy the notion of the “precious product” in art making, students will explore a gestural approach to examine the structural foundation of the subject in a loose and expressive approach.
Exercise 1a - Gestural studies
Using the figure as subject, students will work on a series of gestural studies. The timed studies will emphasize the use of observation and reaction, while focusing on the hierarchy of elements necessary for success in a limited drawing. Poses will progress from 2 minute to five minute sessions.
