Week 3 - Shape: An Irony
Students will explore a variety of visual techniques in order to gain better accuracy in depicting their subject through drawing. The importance of shape, both positive and negative, as a visual reference will be introduced.
Exercise 2a - Utilizing Negative and Positive Shapes
Proportion and Relationships in Responsive Drawing
Through the use of the skeleton and anatomical references, students will explore the underlying structure of the human form and how to accurately employ proportional devices, relations of key structural points, the use of plum -lines and levels.
Reading Assignment: Chapter 3: Line - An Indispensable Abstraction
Sketch Assignment: 5 drawings of a foreshortened subject
